Excerpts Of A Letter From A Reader in England –November, 2010
First and foremost I absolutely LOVED the book!
I think the style is awesome which makes it memorable and I totally resonate with what she says. I especially love the freedom documents – I’ve never read them before so having them so handy so people can check them out when needed is an awesome idea. I wondered if they are taught in schools as part of the curriculum so every person in America has knowledge of them? In Article 1; Section 5; paragraph 3 of the Constitution I noticed it talks about each house keeping a journal of its proceedings to be published…except that which may in their judgement require secrecy. To me this negates everything that is written in it as it provides a handy little loophole through which government bodies can keep anything they like from being filtered into public knowledge. So who decides then – who’s the judge of this perceived requirement of secrecy? That’s the burning question isn’t it?
On page 106 the sentence “whenever we permit others to do our thinking for us…” makes me feel so very strongly that it is not just our personal freedom that is being taken away but also our individual power as a democratic (ha ha ha) society. As Naomi says our responsibility has been taken away which means that the young people in society will stop caring if they have no input and if they don’t care then what have they got left? It seems all that is left is the drudgery of working for the fat cats so they can become fatter. So how can they direct their freedom and energy in ways that don’t involve alcohol, drugs and anarchy. They see so many older people who are no better off than themselves so what are their chances? Many are able to escape to universities and colleges with dreams of a better future but how many graduates are packing shelves in the local supermarket. Hope is very quickly diminishing for these young people who are our future.
I often see people coming home from work and they look for all the world like drones; heads down, shoulders stooped, no laughter in their eyes or voices any more….no chatter…like they’ve already given up on life. Yes ‘They’ have done their job of brainwashing us very well, so now if anyone challenges their ideas and philosophies with anything that is even slightly out there is seen as being either a conspiratist or a crackpot. This is why your book is so important Naomi – to help people realise that their thoughts and fears are not in fact un-patriotic but valid, which will hopefully result in more people uniting before this whole thing goes too far. As Naomi says ‘the governments must be governed’ and how very very true. I also found the book to be not too radical while at the same time stating facts, and facts are what people want. This I’m sure will make the book popular not only with those of us who have a strong political bent but with a much wider audience.
“Recently however there seems to be a totally different feel to everything-a fear of standing up to what is right.”
Naomi also talked about a government for the people and I’m not sure if this is possible in the present political climate. It seems that people are seeing the government as being rulers and not electives. They are, as Naomi said, “afraid to look power in the eye”. There is so much deception going on with the elections now – in both America and the UK it was like the vote was decided before the votes were cast. At one time circa 1970s I could be found lobbying politicians, standing around with placards and knocking at doors to demonstrate against animal experimentation and human rights and freedoms. I rallied against, in my opinion, senseless people doing senseless things. I continued lobbying my local politicians in whatever I saw as an infringement on people’s rights and freedoms. Recently however there seems to be a totally different feel to everything – a fear of standing up to what is right.
Since the conservative government took office here everything is starting to look seriously dire. As my husband says, “It’s a fair and democratic society as long as you’re either rich or extremely talented”. I am the eternal optimist but to see a rebirthing of the Victorian age where the rich get richer and the poor, poorer is not progress.
So just what are the governments doing for us apart from taking away our dignity and freedom?
Oh yes, they’re taking control with war and promoting fear in every possible avenue and we are just allowing ourselves to become a ‘nanny’ state. It seems the majority believe the illusion that they are looking after us but how can they be when emotional, psychological as well as monetary slavery is rife? It’s more like they’re treating us all like mushrooms – keeping us in the dark and feeding us sh*t. And what’s really going on in Afghanistan? I’ve heard rumours that there are ancient relics that have no known origin buried there and there that the governments (or is that CIA?) are keeping the war going until they are all collected. Could be more conspiracy…who knows what’s true or not any more?
I believe Naomi is a very brave and forward looking lady and we need more and more motivational speakers like her for this generation to hear as it seems that, in the UK at least, young people are becoming more and more apathetic. The workers seem to have absolutely no say and they seem to be totally accepting of that. Unions appear to be a thing of the past so everything we fought for in the 1970s – the rights for freedom, fair pay and fair working conditions has all been taken away in the guise of some loophole or other. This may sound harsh but this generation seem to be like sheep in the fold, accepting everything their boss throws at them without so much as a bleat. Everyone seems to be moaning about everything but at the same time they seem brainwashed into thinking there is nothing they can do to change the world.
The bosses aren’t entirely to blame – they seem to have become spiritually static with materialism their only gain from what I can see. Because they can’t rise up themselves the only way to get personal power seems to be by pushing everyone else down, which of course is just an illusion of power. The sad thing is, people are trying to just carry on as normal but we’re in a different age now, a whole totally different gestalt and it’s just not working is it?
We’re rapidly moving in the spiritual age and perhaps it’s fear that the governments and bosses are displaying; that they’re feeling it too but don’t know what to do or how to deal with it. I believe a true spiritual revolution is happening right now. You’ve probably heard about the riots and protests recently in London concerning the rising of education fees for students. I’ve had experience of this myself and others have found it difficult to afford the prices of drinks in the refectory. Some of us decided to bring in our own fruit tea bags to be told that, “sorry, I’m not allowed to sell you hot water”. After much debate and the canteen worker so rightly saying it was not her decision she told me that – horror of horrors – some of the kids were bringing in Pot Noodles and totally bucking the system of ‘eat and drink what we tell you or get out’. Anyway, we’re bringing in our own flasks of water next week and lo betide anyone who tries to stop or move us cos, sorry, but we just ain’t movin’.
We’re also dealing with ‘working trials’ in this country……I don’t know if this is happening across the pond but work with no pay is becoming the accepted norm. The employer takes a person on with no wage on a temporary basis and if he doesn’t think he’s up to speed then the worker is dismissed. Which means that employers are getting all their work done for nothing. Apart from that it seems the minimum wage is the average wage.
It seems that younger people are asleep to their rights as human beings and we need to wake them up. Wake them up to the fact that we only have this one life as the person we are and that life is for living and not for others to oppress. We all need to find our power so we are not controlled like puppets by big brother any more.
On a lighter note I occasionally find it absolutely necessary to visit the hairdressers. The usual topic of conversation on these occasions is usually who’s going out with who, where and why or what’s going on it the celebrity world and what they are all wearing or not wearing as the case my be. The last time …my heart was warmed to find people letting their hair down (sorry, couldn’t resist) while discussing global warming, water shortage and economic deflation and inflation. People are becoming more aware and less willing to be controlled, hopefully. People I think are now listening more with their hearts and shining their light and if one candle can light up a room imagine what millions can do so I do have hope in the spiritual warrior. There are so many now in the world and boy do we need them.
I love the idea of people working together to help make the world a better place in a gentle but very powerful way. There’s a loss of freedom it seems wherever you look but it’s balanced by a lot of really good spiritual warriors There’s a really good series of videos showcasing how urgent the world situation is right now at: http://www.thecrowhouse.com/calling.html. Max gives his IP address due to fears his site won’t last much longer due to internet censorship….I think the majority of people are unaware that nothing is private (really) as they happily broadcast every detail of their lives on Facebook or Twitter, but it makes the governments happy.
The Ten Commandments of Political Office is not just an important book for America but for the whole of the Western world. Naomi Silverthorn’s voice needs to be heard – she is a force to be reckoned with.
