Well, folks, take a gander down this list. There’s roughly 400 government agencies, “independent establishments” and corporations that you are paying for.
We can assume this is not all the government agencies or operations that exist: for example, the once top secret NRO, National Reconnaissance Organization, existed before it was brought casually into public awareness. It is another intelligence-gathering agency, one of “who-knows-how-many” spy- related agencies.
There are apparently many “mini” agencies and programs not easily pinpointed and not on the list below: take the “National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse” for instance, (our federal government considers itself the overparent of fathers-who-could-fail!!) an offspring of the Administration of Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance, Department of Health and Human Services. –You get the idea.
This list is a snapshot of government bloat, waste, and astonishing overgrowth that has occurred while Americans left it all up to “them” to manage.
Instead of doing their jobs, Congress creates bureaucracies to do a job…these propagate baby bureaucracies to support parent bureaucracies. If America is ever going to heal, 90% of these agencies could be axed.
This list is an excellent outline of political back-scratching, federal over-reach, and why the people of this nation cannot bring government into line because it is an enormous monster, unwieldy, incestuous, and self-serving.
Next time you look at your paycheck deductions (if you’re fortunate enough to have employment) or you pay your taxes and go without necessities because of it, remember this list. Better yet, go to http://www.usa.gov/Agencies.shtml and see for yourself what a useless, bureaucratic empire officials have been creating with your dollars.
Americans need to realize that government agencies create regulations, not voted on by the public. Sometimes, public hearings are held, but the average American is totally unaware of the highly complicated mechanization at play, nor could we expect Americans to adequately participate in, and oversee, such a mangle. To call this overdone conglomeration an organization, is a stretch: it amounts to a big entangled mess. Agency regulations have the force of law; the more agencies the more regulations, and Americans wonder why life has gotten so complicated. These bureaucracies sorely influence our lives with hopelessly complicated, restrictive, invasive, expensive, and otherwise minute rules-to-live-by…and they are bottomless money pits, to boot.
We will routinely examine these agencies, what they do, what they spend. We will take a good hard look at duplication, triplication, and quadruplication of “services” that will clearly show that politics has drained the life blood of this nation into the pockets of the bureaucratic privileged.
